Perinatal Program

Our perinatal program is a health promotion and support program for all our expectant mothers. Our highly-trained health promoters and case managers help guide a woman through pregnancy, providing education, support and assistance right up until she delivers her baby. Then they stay in close contact for the first 2 months of the baby’s life to answer questions, help with breastfeeding, and help new parents handle any concerns they have. The program is free for our patients.

Our Perinatal Staff:

Vicky Valle has worked for La Clínica’s Perinatal program for 16 years as both a health promoter and a Perinatal case manager. She enjoys providing prenatal and postpartum education to pregnant and postpartum women and their families both one-on-one and in group settings. She helps to ensure that women get adequate prenatal care, which reduces complications in the pregnancy, and she has seen first-hand our excellent results pregnancy outcomes and breastfeeding. She is widely known and respected in our community for her years of service helping families adjust to the arrival of a new baby.

Delfina Reyes has worked for La Clínica’s Perinatal program since 2005. She provides education and support to pregnant women and women who have recently had a baby. She enjoys working with pregnant women and helping them get the care and services they need, such as seek and dental exams. She thinks it’s important for La Clínica to have health promoter programs, because patients are often more relaxed about talking to the health promoters than they are about talking to their doctor, and the health promoters have the opportunity to give them extra care and attention.

Lisa Sponhauer, RN has worked for La Clínica in various roles since 2000. She has been the Perinatal program manager since 2005, a role she really enjoys. She likes being able to spend more time counseling patients than she was able to as a nurse, and has a particular interest in working with expectant families. She appreciates all the work our health promoters do to improve the health care of our patients, and like many of us, is convinced that our clinic provides better service because of them.
