Health Promoters
La Clínica employs 7 health promoters to help us in our mission to provide excellent health care. Health promoters are natural leaders from the community we are trying to serve who are dedicated to promoting health and wellness, and helping people access the health care services they need.
Evaristo Romero
Salud Program
Evaristo Romero has worked for La Clínica’s Salud program for 3 ½ years. He loves the opportunity to teach patients and make a difference in their disease management. He has recently gained new skills in helping people manage their weight in a healthy way, and has been very popular in that role! He teaches classes and provides one-on-one support for many patients. He knows that health promoter programs enable the clinic to reach many more people, in ways that are effective for conveying health information and support.
Alicia Sandoval
Salud Program
Alicia Sandoval – Alicia is proud to have worked at La Clínica for the past year. She loves her job, because she thinks the health promotion programs are a great way to assist people who are learning to take better care of their diabetes, their blood pressure, their cholesterol or their weight. She has learned a great deal from working here that she has applied in her own life, and that helps her serve patients better. She thinks it is important for the clinic to have health promoter programs, because the style of teaching (using Popular Education) is very effective and makes difficult concepts easier to understand.
Ignacio Olaez Valle
Salud Program
Ignacio Olaez (Nacho) Nacho has worked for La Clínica’s Salud program for a year and a half. He loves his job because it is an opportunity to provide “cariño” (care) to every patient he encounters. He especially likes working with children because he knows they need great role models. He believes the health promoter programs at La Clínica are important because they provide a unique kind of support to patients with chronic diseases.

She enjoys working with pregnant women and helping them get the care and services they need, such as seek and dental exams. She thinks it’s important for La Clínica to have health promoter programs, because patients are often more relaxed about talking to the health promoters than they are about talking to their doctor, and the health promoters have the opportunity to give them extra care and attention.

What she likes about her job is that we offer services to people who need them most. She thinks it is important for La Clínica to have health promoter programs, because health promoters are part of the community, and they know and understand the culture, the needs and how to reach people. Toña has gained a national reputation as a health promoter, and has inspired many similar programs across the nation. We are proud that she calls us home!
